Erik the Flutemaker Pennywhistle in Carbon Fiber (D, C, Bb, A)
Overview
Carbon Fiber is a strong material, it will not crack, and can be
played in extreme temperatures and weather conditions.
This handmade whistle has been crafted by the great Erik the
Flutemaker. The body is made of carbon fiber, and the mouthpiece is
the popular Susato ABS fipple. When blowing this whistle it
requires you to use more air. The tone is much fuller and organic
than a regular tin whistle. It is also louder, so it's great when
you want to be heard when playing with other musicians. This
instrument is suited for beginners.
How to play this tin whistle?
- Blow into the mouthpiece at the end of the flute
- It's very easy, just like blowing a recorder
- It doesn't require a lot of air like many wind instruments
- It does require more air than the average tin whistle
- The whistle is played in front of you, it's very comfortable to hold
- It's suited for all hand sizes
The musical possibilities
- You can play in various major and minor keys
- You can 'bend' notes by slowly sliding your finger off the fingerhole
- The whistle has a reach of more than two octaves
Which keys are easy to play in?
On a tin whistle you can easily and comfortably play in the following keys:
Carbon Fiber Pennywhistle D:

Carbon Fiber Pennywhistle Bb:
